Being involved in a car crash can be a traumatic experience. While many Angelenos believe that they will never be involved in car crash, it is actually very likely that you will be involved in a car accident in one way or another during your lifetime.
The following is a list of tips to follow after being involved in a car crash:
Check to make sure you have not sustained any injuries.
If possible, move your car to a safe area. If it is safe and possible, try to move your car off of the road and onto the shoulder. Also make sure to turn on your hazard lights.
Once your car is in a safe area, make sure your car is turned off and that the car is in park. After catching your breathe, check to see if it is safe to get out of your car.
Once you are safely out of your car, check on the other parties involved in the crash. If you determine that the other parties have been injured make sure to call 911 immediately.
Call the Police, a Police Report can prove to be invaluable once you begin dealing with the aftermath of the car accident. The report will help determine fault, which is extremely important.
Collect information, make sure you collect as much information as possible regarding the accident. Including driver information, passenger names, License Plate numbers, contact phone numbers for all parties involved, insurance information, make and model of all of the cars involved, eyewitness contact information, and if possible responding officer information.
Take photographs of the scene, including all of the vehicles involved in the accident as well as the street.
